A charity which has served Northwood residents since 1949 has received a grant of more than £40,000.
The Ruislip Northwood Old Folks Association received a £41,964 grant from HS2’s Community and Environment Fund to help provide more than 10,000 meals to the elderly.
The Community and Environment Fund aims to benefit communities which have been disrupted by the construction of the new HS2 high-speed railway.
The association hopes that the lunch and social club will offer attendees the chance to meet others and have a nutritious meal.
Steve McBain, from the Ruislip Northwood Old Folks Association, said: “As with all small charities, funding is a major factor in maintaining sustainability and achieving its aim. This grant from the HS2 Community and Environment Fund is most welcome and ensures the association will continue to provide places to meet for the benefit of many more local elderly residents.”
The association runs two lunch and social clubs, at the Elm Park Centre in Ruislip and the Tudor Club in Eastcote, open from 10.30am Monday to Friday.
