PROPERTY BREACH: Tools and three bicycles stolen in Abbots Langley during shed break-in

An Abbots Langley resident has reported to ABBOTSnews that two of her garden sheds were broken into during a burglary last month, with several valuable items stolen.

The incident happened at a property backing onto the allotments at Summerhouse Way between 9am on Monday, November 3, and 4pm on Sunday, November 9. Intruders are alleged to have forced entry by pulling one of the shed doors off its hinges and breaking the padlock on the second.

While nothing was taken from the first shed, thieves stole three adult bicycles and a petrol hedge trimmer from the second.

The bikes, which had been locked together with a heavy-duty lock, were reportedly pushed across the garden, with tyre tracks visible on the grass.

The resident contacted Hertfordshire Police and was given a crime reference number, however officers said they were unable to attend as they reportedly told the resident that “fingerprints could not be lifted from the wooden shed”.

Speaking to ABBOTSnews, the resident said: “I also heard from the victim service team, and they have said at this time there are no proportionate lines of enquiry that will lead to the offender being identified.”

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: “At this time, all lines of enquiry have been exhausted and no suspect has been identified. Should any new investigative opportunities become available, they will be acted upon accordingly.”
