A hockey club serving Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead and Tring is celebrating the recent opening of its new astroturf pitch.
The new facility at Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club is now open in the nearby hamlet of Cow Roast. It was built thanks to generous donations and loans from club members, Northchurch Parish Council and the Charity Bank.
The all-weather facility, complete with lighting for evening matches, is set to give the club a welcome boost. The club has five men’s teams, four women’s sides, a burgeoning youth section for eight to 16 year olds, and walking hockey for veteran players.
A spokesperson for the club said: “We have such a vibrant youth section, and the walking hockey team has members who are over the age of 70, proving you’re never too old to enjoy and benefit from playing sport!”
“If you have just moved to the area and want to find a sports club, or you and your children want to try a new sport, then please contact bookings@berkohockeyclub.com – we look forward to hearing from you.”
