PRELIMINARY ROUND: Chalfont St Peter progress in FA Cup

Published on: 24th August 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Chalfont St Peter A.F.C

Chalfont St Peter AFC have progressed in the FA Cup preliminary rounds with a 2-0 victory over Shrivenham FC.

Two strikes in the 50th and 54th minute by Sodike Thompson and Sean Giordmaina were enough to see The Saints through, despite playing over 80 minutes with 10 men.

Jordan Payne was given a “harsh” red card in the eighth minute leaving the Buckinghamshire side with a lot of work to do.

For the first goal, a corner is whipped into the near post where a Shivenham defender knocks the ball into the penalty area allowing Thompson to kick the ball into the bottom corner.

Four minutes later, the Shivenham goalkeeper is nowhere to be seen as one of their defenders and Giordmaina battled it out to as they watch the ball bounce towards the line. As they get there, The Saints player kicks the ball into the roof of the net making it 2-0 to Chalfont.

Now with their third win in a row, The Saints will be looking forward to facing Marlow on Monday (August 26) in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
