Staff at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood can enjoy new, nice spaces to have a break thanks a major refurbishment of their staff rooms funded through support from the general public.
They, along with workers at hospitals in Stevenage, Hertford, Luton, Bedford, St Albans, Harlow and Welwyn Garden City, have benefitted from the money raised by ordinary people for the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust’s ‘Here for Each Other’ campaign.
Started in a bid to provide morale boosts for NHS workers working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, more than £150,000 donated to the initiative has been used to improve staff rest areas, including new furniture, storage and a general redecoration.
The scheme has also allowed staff to get special treats, wellbeing supports, rewards and recognition for their hard work.
Thomas Pound, chief people officer at the hospital trust, which runs Mount Vernon, said: “We are delighted our staff have newly decorated and comfortable rooms where they can take a well-earned break, especially after what they have had to deal with over the last couple of years.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported our charity’s Here For Each Appeal and made these refurbishments possible. It has made such a difference. Our staff now have lovely rooms which they enjoy being in. It’s given them a real boost.”
