Police officers serving Abbots Langley will return to starting their shifts at the village’s police station following concerns from residents about visible policing.
The change took effect from October 19 and ends an arrangement introduced around six months ago, which required officers covering Abbots Langley and South Oxhey to attend briefings at Rickmansworth Police Station before starting their shifts.
Three Rivers Chief Inspector Dan Rainbird announced the decision following feedback from residents and local representatives.
Three Rivers Council Leader Stephen Giles-Medhurst welcomed the move. He said: “It has been clear that residents’ dissatisfaction with the arrangement has been a significant concern.
“I have been feeding back these concerns to the Inspector regularly and am pleased that he has changed this operational decision.”
Abbots Langley Parish Council Chair Jane Lay said residents had frequently raised concerns about not seeing officers on local streets or activity at the police station.
She said: “I look forward to a fresh start and to seeing our local police officers out and about in the community once again.”
