A much-loved coffee shop in Pinner has made it to the finals of a prestigious borough-wide competition.
TAG Drinks has been a firm pillar of the Eastcote and Pinner community since it opened in 2020. Now, the café is thrilled to reveal it has been shortlisted for not one, but two Hillingdon Business Awards.
Speaking to Pinner news, managing director Hovig Yardim said: “It’s a phenomenal recognition. Last year, we were delighted to be awarded a top 10 local business in the UK, but to receive this local recognition is a huge stamp on what we do!
“It feels good to be verified, and it’s good to see our efforts are coming to fruition.”
The café has been shortlisted for Hospitality/Leisure Business of the Year and Innovative Company of the Year. The former is due to Hovig’s innovative new drink, the TAG Tea Latte.
Hovig explained: “It’s difficult for coffee shops to be innovative. With coffee, you can have trained baristas and specialist equipment to create a product that cannot be replicated at home, but it is harder to do something different with tea.”
The café owner created the TAG Tea Latte, which is made using heat and pressure to create an espresso-like shot of tea, which can be flavoured and added to silky milk.
On returning to the café after making it to the final, Hovig said: “I got mobbed! People were shouting their congratulations; it was nice! But at the end of the day, our customers helped make it happen. They are the brick and mortar of the place.”
The finals will be held at the Sheraton Skyline Heathrow Hotel on Thursday, January 23.
