A coach at Watford Amateur Boxing Club has been honoured by Watford Borough Council.
Kenny Walker has been at Watford Amateur Boxing Club, based at the Woodside Leisure Centre, for many years and also runs Box Cleva, a community safety partnership initiative which helps to promote safer neighbourhoods and wellbeing in young people.
Children from as young as seven years old to adults regularly attend one or more of Kenny’s boxing sessions each week.
Earlier this month, Kenny was presented with a well-deserved prize at the Chairman of Watford Borough Council’s Community Awards ceremony
Woodside Councillor Stephen Cavinder nominated Kenny for the award and presented it to him at the ceremony.
He said: “Kenny is not only a hardworking man but a modest one too. He would likely say that he couldn’t do what he does without the support of a great team of coaches and of course his family. There is no doubt though that under his leadership the Watford Amateur Boxing Club continues to grow, providing youth and adult groups with a welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to exercise and train with others of like mind. There will be few people who so richly deserve one of the Chairman’s Community Awards as much as Kenny Walker.”
