Parents show their support for new Croxley school

A bid to convince the Department of Education of the need for a new secondary school in the Croxley Green area – to cater for the shortfall in places from 2016 – is gathering pace. St Clement Danes School’s head teacher Dr Josephine Valentine – who is leading the bid – and education consultant, Norman Hoare, have been meeting with parents from local schools to explain the need for the proposed Croxley Green Secondary School. The meetings are aimed at parents of Year 3 and Year 4 pupils of local schools, because predictions show there is likely to be a shortfall of 327 secondary school places when it is their time to attend secondary school.   St Clement Danes’ development director, Sarah Kitt, told My Croxley News that parents had been responding really positively to the meetings.   She said: “We are outlining what we are doing with parents and we’re giving them the opportunity to ask whatever questions they want.   “They want to know what the admissions criteria are going to be; they also want to know if they will be in the catchment area. These are both questions we can answer at the meetings.”   Sarah explained that the aim is to get 180 parents (90 year three and 90 year four) to sign up for the proposed Croxley Green Secondary School, by way of a parental support survey.   Any parents interested in learning about the proposed new secondary school in Croxley Green can attend one of the two meetings still to be being hosted by Dr Valentine.   Monday April 28th (7pm) at Little Green Junior School, Lincoln Drive, Croxley Green   Wednesday 30th April (7pm) at Field Junior School, Watford Field Road, Watford   If you would like to attend one of these meetings please send an email to enquiries@croxleygreenschool.org.uk   Those wishing to complete a Parental Support Survey should go to http://www.croxleygreenschool.org.uk/parental-survey.html   The deadline is April 30, 2014.
