PICTURE PERFECT: Hemel Hempstead photographer wins international award

Published on: 22nd February 2022   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A photographer from Hemel Hempstead has been recognised with an international award for his pet portraits.

Ian Boichat from the town was named International Pet Photographer of the year by the Master Photographers Association (MPA) at a virtual awards evening held earlier this year on January 22.

Ian told HemelNews: “To say I was happy I won was an understatement, still pinching myself now! The award was meant to have been presented at an awards night at the Cutty Sark in London but unfortunately that fell victim to COVID but in the end I did get the trophy presented to me by Ray Lowe, the Chairman of the MPA.”

Ian added that his passion for photography was inspired by his mum, who was always taking photos as he grew up. He received his first camera on his 18th birthday and has been photographing ever since.

The MPA has hosted 38 annual awards, celebrating the best photographers and images from all over the world. The yearly competition is judged to a standard that redefines creativity, excellence and photographic skill.

Ian specialises in pets, family and commercial photography from his studio in Flaunden.
