A driver from Abbots Langley has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a local car park.
The 21-year-old badly damaged Hunters Bridge car park in Welwyn Garden City by doing burnouts in his car.
The driver was cautioned earlier this month after being tracked down through CCTV enquiries – police identified the vehicle and from that the Abbots owner, who was interviewed by officers and admitted to causing the £4,740-worth of damage.
The man will be paying back the full amount to Welwyn Hatfield Council to repair the damages.
Investigating officer, PC Kaur, said: “We closely monitor any reports or intelligence regarding car meets and always try to engage with the organisers where possible.
“Where offences are identified, such as in this case, proportionate action will always be taken. Let this be a warning to anyone who thinks they can get away with such behaviour; it is not acceptable and we will not tolerate it.”
