Nearly 2,000 adults and children joined Olympic star Colin Jackson at an open day to mark the one-year anniversary of Chilterns Lifestyle Centre last weekend.
Managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council, the centre laid on a full day of free activities for the community on December 10.
More than 1,500 joined in the sessions throughout the day which included swimming, soft play, climbing, squash, badminton, arts and crafts, group exercise classes, bouldering and pickleball.
Olympic medallist Colin Jackson joined in the fun and took on rowing and climbing challenges with visitors.
Steve Salwa, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “The open day was a massive success. It’s a fantastic facility that we’re exceptionally proud of and we were thrilled to see so many new and existing members enjoying the facilities on Saturday.
“Since opening a year ago, the centre has been a fantastic asset to the community, not just as a place for people to stay healthy through exercise, but also somewhere for people of all ages to meet and socialise. It was tremendous to see such a huge number of people celebrating the milestone with us.”
Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure said: “We are delighted to see how successful the Chilterns Lifestyle Centre has become over the past 12 months. It offers a wide array of health, leisure and community facilities for local people in a modern and welcoming space and we know it will continue to grow and develop in coming years.”
The flagship Chilterns Lifestyle Centre officially opened its doors on December 6, 2021 after replacing the previous The Chiltern Pools and Gym.
