Results of the proposed scheme to make two areas of Garston 20mph zones have been received.
Residents were asked to express their opinion on a scheme to make certain areas of Garston 20mph and according to the results most residents were in favour of the proposed changes.
The Leavesden Green (e.g. Rushton Ave, Clarke Way, Harris Rd) area achieved an 83 per cent in favour of the 20mph area.
The Garston Area instead (e.g. Garston Drive, Severn Way, Sheepcot Drive) achieved an 81 per cent in favour result.
Garston county councillor Tim Williams said: “Big thanks to all those who responded and these results endorse my view that these residential streets should become 20mph areas, and that by doing so it will improve highway safety for all.
“The next stage is the formal publications of the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders that we intend to complete this autumn, and then all being well have the schemes in operation next Spring/Summer.”
In the letter sent to residents, Hertfordshire County Council highlighted why the change would be beneficial for the area, suggesting that it would reduce the number of accidents and promote a healthier lifestyle.
