The Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor has awarded a certificate of commendation on behalf of the people of Watford to Garston resident Olivia Alcorano, aged 7, for raising over £3000 for Mount Vernon Hospital.

Olivia, whose father Tino received cancer treatment at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre twice, has been cycling five miles a day on her bike having learnt to cycle during lockdown.

Her campaign was also supported by Watford born Anthony Joshua.

The mayor was joined by Watford Borough Council Chairman Cllr Aga Dychton to present Olivia with her certificate outside the Town Hall for ‘an outstanding contribution to the local community’.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “It was great to meet Olivia and to present her with a certificate of commendation on behalf of people in our town. Her efforts raising money for Mount Vernon are such an inspiration. I am sure this will make a real difference to the support they provide for people with cancer.

“It’s amazing the way our community has come together to help one another during these challenging times. Congratulations Olivia, the whole town is very proud of you.”
