An international music sensation has been appointed as the newest patron of a prestigious school in Bushey.
The Purcell School has welcomed Julian Lloyd Webber OBE, a renowned cellist, music educator and broadcaster, as a patron.
Speaking about the appointment, Paul Bambrough, principal of the school, said he was delighted with the news.
He said: “Julian’s vast experience as a musician, his comprehensive knowledge of the music industry and his passion for music education will be of incalculable value to the school. I look forward to working with him to enhance and develop our vital and important work.”
Julian said he was honoured to take on the position.
He said: “Under Paul Bambrough, the school is going from strength to strength and I know that we share many of the same beliefs about bringing music education as to as many young people as possible.
“I can’t get wait to get involved.”
