A special one-off event is taking place in Chorleywood to commemorate the 80th anniversary since the D-Day landings of the Second World War.
From 6pm on Thursday, June 6, residents are invited to Chorleywood Memorial Hall to celebrate in the style of the 1940s, with guests encouraged to turn up in period-accurate clothing.
The event will begin with a special newsreel of events created by Chorleywood Film Club, followed by a meal of fish and chips or halloumi and chips.
The bar will offer both soft and alcoholic drinks, and Chorleywood Music will perform songs from the 1940s.
At the end of the evening’s festivities at 9.15pm, residents will gather around the village’s beacon on the Common, which will be lit in tribute to the courageous individuals who fought on that fateful day 80 years ago.
Tickets cost £20 per person, or £10 for children under 13. To book, visit this link.
Tickets are not needed for the beacon lighting.
