Herts Police were called at 6.52pm yesterday (Wednesday, July 9) to a collision involving three vehicles between junctions 4 and 5 southbound on the M1 motorway.
One man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
One driver, a man aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene for causing serious injury by careless driving and is in police custody.
The road was closed southbound whilst investigations took place.
