A resident is taking on the Brighton Marathon next month to raise money for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre (PSSC) in Northwood.
Inspired to give back to the organisation that has supported his family, Martin Eden is training hard for his first marathon on Sunday, April 6.
PSSC, which is based at Mount Vernon Hospital, provides life-changing CT, MRI and PET/CT scans used to diagnose and monitor cancer and other serious conditions. Donations are used to make sure patients can benefit from leading edge scanning equipment and to further medical research.
Martin said: “A few years back, my son was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He received excellent treatment from Mount Vernon Hospital and PSSC and made a full recovery.
“He still has the support of the hospital, particularly PSSC. As a family, we are eternally grateful for everything that they have done and continue to do.”
