A Kings Langley man is set to appear in court over claims he pocketed cash for construction work that never took place.
Terry McGinlay, 43, of Toms Lane, appeared at Barrow-in-Furness Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 6, accused of committing fraud by false representation.
McGinlay is accused of “dishonestly making a false representation” after receiving a sum of £1,230 for building work which never took place.
The alleged offence happened in Workington, Cumbria, in June 2022.
The defendant decided not to enter a plea, and the case has been sent to crown court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
McGinlay was remanded in custody until the hearing.
Hertfordshire Police have a “zero tolerance” attitude to fraud, and the highly trained team will investigate, seek to prosecute, and recover money from those involved in fraud.
