‘REAL BUZZ’: Radlett community comes together to perform ‘good deeds’ and celebrate Mitzvah Day

Published on: 9th December 2025   |   By: Naomi Greenaway   |   Category: Uncategorized

Last month, many across the village came together to celebrate the annual celebration of Mitzvah, a Jewish-led day of social action which brings together thousands of people from all faiths, ages to give their time and make a difference to the community.

November saw families, children, faith leaders, volunteers and many more join together in Radlett, Elstree and surrounding areas coming together to show their support.

Radlett Reform Synagogue volunteers created Christmas hampers and collected as well as sorted children’s clothes and books for local charity Sebby’s Corner, while spring bulbs and winter flowers were planted, and Chanukah cards were made.

At the Liberal Synagogue in Elstree, children, parents and teachers engaged in baking and decorating cinnamon and apple swirls and Gingerbread people, as well as creating toiletry bags using donations from the community, which will be sent to Borehamwood Food Bank.

Speaking to RADLETTnews, Elstree and Borehamwood Mayor Dan Ozarow said: “Our town had a real buzz about it today as people from all walks of life and backgrounds focused on being kind and doing good deeds to help strangers whom they don’t know and may never meet.

The day was just about seeing each other as neighbours and as humans, I am sure that the ripple effect will spread across our area for some time to come.”
