Abandoned chairs, clothes dryers, and a bike were among the waste collected during a community litter pick around the Moatfield Recreation Ground.
Volunteers filled 19 sacks with park litter during the event, which was organised by Bushey Lib Dem councillors.
Among those taking part were cubs, scouts, parents, and leaders from the 64th Bushey and Oxhey Scout Group, who are based on the Moatfield.
The pick was also supported by Watford on the Water, a community action group.
Councillor Miles Ponder, councillor for Bushey St James, said: “Huge thanks to everyone who took part. Sadly, litter is a real problem in parts of the Moatfield, which is why events like this can make such a difference.
“We’ve also been pressing for better bins in the park, and the council have now replaced several old-style open bins with the new ‘letterbox’ type. These help deter foxes and fly-tipping”.
Meanwhile, organisers at the 64th Bushey and Oxhey Scout Group say they’re keen to hear from new volunteers and potential leaders. For details, contact dc.watfordsouth@hertfordshirescouts.org.uk
