Santa Claus is REALLY coming to town

Published on: 15th November 2018   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Following the tremendous success of the Rotary Club of Hemel Hempstead’s Santa Sleigh in 2017, it will be visiting the streets of Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley again this year.

For those who saw it last year, who can forget the excitement and delight on the faces of children and the adults who reminisced about the sleigh from their childhood?

Santa’s full schedule can be viewed on the Rotary Club’s Facebook page.

Those who were visited by Santa last year shared their thoughts:

“One minute you’re ready for bed, next minute Santa is coming down the road in his sleigh. Thank you Rotary.”

“Thank you for knocking for my lad to come out and wave – keep up the good work.”

“It was fantastic to see you (and I don’t have kids)… so excited, it brought back childhood memories.”

“You just made my children’s day. Hope you raise lots of money.”

“My son has special needs and was a bit frightened at first, but Santa made him smile in the end.  You do an amazing job.”

Tony Burford, chair of the Santa Sleigh committee said: “We are delighted to say that plans are well under way for this year’s activity.  We have 24 proposed routes visiting Adeyfield, Apsley, Bennetts End, Boxmoor, Chaulden, Gadebridge, Grovehill, Highfield, Leverstock Green, Warners End, Woodhall Farm, Bovingdon and Kings Langley.

“Helped by various groups and organisations, we will be out between 18.00 and 20.00 on our evening collections. We will also be holding several static collections where you will be able to have your child’s (or even your own) photograph taken with Santa.

“Thanks to the generosity of the people of Hemel Hempstead last year we raised £13,500, which was distributed back into the community.”

This year, donations can also be made by texting – RCHH25 £x – to 70070 (replacing x with the amount you wish to donate).

Santa began his visits on Saturday, November 24, and he will make his last appearance for the year on Christmas Eve at Marlowes Shopping Centre in Hemel Hempstead.
