JOG ON: Walking football club marches home the trophy

Published on: 16th September 2026   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Featured

Kings Langley FC (KLFC) sent its walking football team to a charity tournament hosted by Tring Walking Football Club and was crowned champion on the day.

The tournament took place on September 5, combining several walking football teams across the surrounding areas. The event was held in support of Greenfingers Charity, which aims to design and build gardens for children receiving hospice care across the UK.

Walking football is a modified version of the sport, where players must refrain from running, sprinting or jogging. This is to reduce the physical stress of the game and minimise the risk of injury, whilst ensuring the technical aspect of football remains. Walking football relies upon accurate passing and tactical play.

The sport has seen a recent growth in interest, particularly as a way for older players to remain active and involved in football, as the KLFC side is for over 50s.

The tournament combined competition and charity, with participants supporting Greenfingers’ cause.
