LIFE-SAVING: New state-of-the-art scanners installed at Amersham Hospital

Published on: 2nd December 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Patients are now able to have MRI and CT scans at Amersham Hospital as of this month.

The new state-of-the-art scanners have been installed in the hospital and were funded by NHS England and Targeted Lung Health Check.

Andrew Wainwright, chief radiographer for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “This new facility at Amersham Hospital will enable those in the south of the county to attend scans easily without having to travel to our acute hospital sites in Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe. It forms a key part of the trust’s strategic aim to develop Amersham Hospital into a leading-edge diagnostic centre.”

CT scans can help diagnose a wide range of conditions, including cancer and strokes. MRI scans can detect tumours and diagnose brain injuries, amongst other things.
