Looking after our health and exercising during the global pandemic is paramount and running will benefit you in many ways including your mental health, emotional state and your physical health.
Every week runners of UcanJog2 (also known as pink ladies) – the local women’s running group – are given a challenge of running to a local landmark and posting a selfie.
There are also mid week challenges which are challenges to support your running such as a strength or stretch exercise.
Debra Geard, run leader of UcanJog2 is encouraging other women that enjoy running to take part in this.
She said: “It has been fantastic for me to see so many people out running! I am so passionate about running and the many benefits running gives you.
“I recognise that running isn’t suitable for everyone and that’s fine but if you are one of the many new women runners why not get involved with a like minded local community of female runners?
“It is FREE and whilst we are not running together during this lockdown period I recognise the importance of staying connected, motivated and challenged.”
UcanJog2 have a club on Strava so members can interact, encourage and praise each other for their individual achievements as well as a private Facebook group to communicate and feel part of a club.
With a background as a fitness instructor and Debra’s experience as a run leader she used this lockdown period to set up a YouTube account called Running Fitness with Debra.
She posts videos to support running.
These include strength workouts, glute activation circuits, mobility and stretch sequences as improving all of these areas are what makes a strong runner and reduce the risk of injury.
