ROAD TO RECOVERY: Amersham Mayor calls upon residents to help town recover from pandemic

Published on: 18th April 2021   |   By: Tim Green   |   Category: Uncategorized

The community in Amersham should not rest on its laurels or be complacent about the town after it was named one of the best places to live in 2021 in The Sunday Times last month.

The message comes from councillor Mark Flys, mayor of Amersham. Speaking before shops, restaurants and cafes were due to reopen on April 12, he called upon residents to help the town recover from the pandemic.

Cllr Flys commented: “Amersham wouldn’t be Amersham without our two shopping areas, so retaining our shops, restaurants and cafes is vital to allow our community to continue to grow and thrive.”

Cllr Flys also praised everyone who has worked to maintain open spaces in the town over the last year.

He said: “Our fantastic Amersham in Bloom team have continued their skilled work as best they can through the pandemic and I’d urge all residents to support their work through assisting with litter picking. Amersham is indeed a great place to live but the responsibility is on us all to maintain our local environment and support our valued local businesses too.”
