A cycling event organised by the Hospice of St Francis has raised more than £19,000 for specialist hospice care.

The first Ride: St Francis Sportive attracted 95 cyclists who took part in routes of 25, 50 or 75 miles on September 6.

The Hospice of St Francis, which has shops in Abbots Langley and Kings Langley, said the event was made special by the community spirit and camaraderie among participants.

A spokesperson for the hospice said: “Wow. What a ride! A massive thank you to all 95 cyclists who joined us for our very first Ride: St Francis Sportive last Sunday!

“Whether you tackled 25, 50 or 75 miles, your community spirit and camaraderie made the day truly special and helped raise over £19,000 to fund our special Hospice care.”

The hospice also provided a shout-out to groups who made the event a “huge success”. This included their volunteers, Jason at SWR Group and Andy at LePatron Bikes, as well as their event sponsors, Chigwell Window Centre PLC – part of the Chigwell Group – for supporting the event and making it a huge success.

If you have your own photos from the rides, the Hospice of St Francis has asked for them to be sent across and shared with them.
