Crossing the street in Chalfont St Giles is now safer thanks to new raised zebra crossings.
The first to be installed was on the High Street. This followed two years of campaigning from parish councillors who raised concerns about crossing safety and speeding in the village.
The funding was secured from the HS2 Road Safety Fund and monies from the Community Infrastructure Levy, with the work being carried out by Buckinghamshire Council contractors.
A new raised crossing and lanterns have also been installed on Deanway.
The parish council has also asked for more traffic wardens to patrol the village, especially during school drop-off times.
However, not all residents are keen on the new crossings, with one commenting they are “an absolute waste of money”.
However, another person said: “Very good idea, I could have done with that in the 1970s… trying to push a pram across.”
