A St Albans netball team have secured their spot in the East Regional Club’s League Division 3 for the first time in their history.
Abbey Flyers Nomads Netball Club’s Solar team headed to Ipswich School on May 12, where they put on an incredible show in the regional play-offs and won five of their six games.
Their momentous victory means that the Solar team will now play in the East Regional Club’s League Division 3.
Founder and head coach Karen Stubbs said: “Thoroughly deserved by a team who has the best team spirit and ethos. Pregnancies, injuries, exams, – we all came together this season for each other.
“I really enjoy coaching them and looking forward to what we can do next season in the Regional League. The club is very proud of them all and their hard work and commitment.”
Abi Pask, club chairperson and team captain on the day, said: “It was an honour to captain this phenomenal squad. Our success was a team effort, with coaches, parents, injured players, scorers and other supporters playing a crucial part of getting us through a gruelling four hours of tough netball.
“We did it together – team Abbey Flyers Nomads!”
