A Bushey schoolgirl has raised more than £2,000 by completing a virtual row from Bushey to Big Ben in memory of her grandmother.
Nine-year-old Jaimie Pressinger has wowed her family and friends by raising £2,400 for St Luke’s Hospice. Jaimie’s grandmother, Susanne, passed away seven years ago after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow cared for Susanne during her final days.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Jaimie’s father Marc said: “In my mum’s final days, St Luke’s were just incredible at looking after her. They don’t receive government grants and rely entirely on private donations, so as a family it is always the cause we choose to support.”
Jaimie sits on the school council, where she is tasked with organising charitable activities, and was inspired to take on a challenge of her own.
She rowed 17 miles in a virtual race from Bushey to Big Ben on Sunday, April 28.
Marc said: “We are really proud of Jaimie for taking on this challenge to raise funds and help this amazing cause that looked after her grandma with such compassion in her final days.”
