Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) have agreed to allocate funds to make improvements to Rickmansworth Sports Club.
At a full council meeting, it was agreed that funds from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) pot, would be granted to the long standing Rickmansworth Sports & Rickmansworth Cricket Club in Park Road, founded in 1787.
The £167,200 will be used to improve drainage at the site, provide new changing facilities, improve disabled access and purchase new cricket nets.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of TRDC, said: “I am delighted that we agreed to use developer funding to help one of the oldest cricket clubs in the country make vital improvements to their grounds. It is right that we use CIL funding to ensure the club continue to flourish and to support successful local teams for another century.”
Councillors approved a £138,000 CIL application from Beryl Bikes for its TRDC scheme.
Funds aim to expand the scheme in Watford and Croxley Green, with 36 new e-bikes and 13 new line painted bays across Rickmansworth, Leavesden and South Oxhey.
