Update on Lionel Lake

A CCTV image has been released in connection with the callous burglary of a 92-year-old man in Ruislip recently. Police in Hillingdon are appealing for information and witnesses after Normandy war veteran, Lionel Lake, had more than £6,000 stolen from his home. Following a number of enquiries, detectives are now releasing CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the burglary of the 92-year-old man. The robbery is believed to have taken place between 9pm on Thursday, April 23 and 1am on Friday, April 24. The victim had left a small window open at his sheltered housing flat in St Catherine’s Farm Court, Howletts Lane, Ruislip, when he went to bed. At about 1am he woke up and noticed a light on in the living room. It was then that he discovered his £6,000 savings had been stolen alongside £30 from his wallet. Detective Constable Tim Costello, from Hillingdon Burglary Squad, said: “Although the victim is 92 he lives a fairly independent life and has spent much of the last few years saving money. “This money was to leave to his children in the event of his death, as well as some for his bills and day-to-day living. “To say he has been devastated by the burglary and the loss of his savings is an understatement. “We are appealing for anyone who may recognise the man in the CCTV footage. The suspect is a white male; he was wearing a dark blue jumper with a white print on the front, black jogging bottoms and black shoes.” Anyone with information should call Hillingdon police on 020 8246 1583 or via 101. Alternatively, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
