A Columbian man pleaded not guilty today (Friday) to murdering a woman whose body was found on a common in Northchurch near Berkhamsted.

Alberto Giraldo-Tascon, 56, also denied preventing a lawful and proper burial of Luz Margory Isaza Villegas on 13th January this year.

Ms Villegas, 50,  of Ritcroft Street, Hemel Hempstead was last seen by her neighbours in the early afternoon of Saturday (Jan 12) and spoke to a family member on the phone just before 3.20pm on the same day.

Giraldo-Tascon, 55, appeared at St Albans crown court via a video link from Bedford prison. He was aided by a Spanish interpreter.

The hearing was adjourned by Judge Michael Kay QC until Thursday April 11 when the defendant will be brought to court in person.

A provisional trial date was set earlier for July 15th.
