A Pinner resident has released her own children’s book telling the story of group of furry four-legged friends.
Rosie Bashford, 22, released Heather’s Hounds and the surprise birthday earlier this year after finding herself in search of a creative project over lockdown.
Based on her sister’s dog walking business, Rosie said she found inspiration for the book whilst working alongside the dogs.
Rosie worked alongside illustrator Holly Frost, who brought the dogs to life after jumping at the chance to illustrate the book.
Speaking to PinnerNews, Rosie said after graduating into nothing due to the pandemic she felt like needed a “passion project”.
She said: “I haven’t done any writing like that before, I just thought I would give it a go, one day when everyone was out of the house, I just sat down, and the words just fell out of me.
“The process was pretty speedy in terms of writing, I also wanted the book to be very visually stimulating which is why I tried to bring in the rhyming and put the audio book online.”
Rosie added that she would love to write another book exploring ideas around the behaviour of dogs which isn’t widely covered in children’s books.
She said: “I would love to write another book, maybe going forward I could write something about dog’s body language which is something I think would be quite helpful.”
