Two men were arrested, and several items of stolen jewellery were recovered within minutes of police receiving a report of a burglary in Hemel Hempstead.
At around 7pm on Tuesday, January 2, police were informed that a property in Grasmere Close had been broken into. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
In the meantime, a second call was made to police reporting that unknown males had been spotted in a nearby garden.
Two people were subsequently detained on Crossfell Road by officers from the Intervention team and taken into police custody.
Jewellery items were recovered and were confirmed to belong to the victim.
Sergeant Chris Hulian, from the Intervention team, said: “This is an excellent example of how reporting suspicious activity to police straightaway can lead to positive results. Two people were detained less than 15 minutes after the initial call was made and the case is now set to progress through the court.”
- Christopher Green, 41, of Victoria Terrace, London, has been charged with burglary and possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis).
- Gerrard Cash, 25, of Brackenfield Close in London, has been charged with burglary.
