The founder of a Rickmansworth-based online pharmacy has said that a global shortage in medication has had a real effect on his business.
Abbas Kanani is the Superintendent Pharmacist for Chemist Click, a business that provides consultation and prescription services from a remote service for those who can’t get to a GP.
However, the company has recently been hit with a shortage of supplies, particularly of medicines and prescriptions.
Speaking to RICKYnews, Abbas said of the current situation: “It’s not quite as bad as December when we had a shortage of antibiotics, they are slowly starting to come back in stock with wholesalers. The same goes for cold and flu medication.
“There still is a shortage, but we are slowly seeing items come back into stock. There has been turmoil across the world, which has caused a global shortage of medication, however, the UK appears to be worse off as a result of Brexit.
“However, we are still having to either pay more and charge more or turn prescriptions away.”
The shortage is one that has been negatively affecting pharmacies across the country, with prices rising for both wholesalers and customers as well.
