SELFLESS ACTS: Dentist donates PPE and food to Pinner care homes and local hospitals

Published on: 5th May 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Harshini Pindolia, a dentist who works in Edgware and Gerrards Cross, has gone above and beyond for care workers and NHS staff by delivering food and PPE to them after she herself has finished a long shift at a hospital.

Two care homes in Pinner and Hatch End are among the many locations where Harshini has delivered to, those being High Meadows and Haven Residential Care Home, as well as donating to Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood and Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow.

As Harshini has gone on, more and more people have helped her and got involved by donating to a fundraising page that she has set up, which now has over £8,500.

Speaking to PinnerNews, Harshini said: “My colleagues in hospitals are working late shifts most days and there was never any food left for them and people were going mad. It was so hard to hear about it, so I had to try and do something to help.

“I think everyone can do their bit to help, so you can feel like you’ve done something so useful is this terrible time. When I go into the care homes or the hospitals you can see how much of a big deal it is to the staff to receive something from the public.”

Harshini, who has been all around London and Hertfordshire with PPE and food that she’s bought from the donations to the fundraising page, said there’s a lot people can do to help during this time.

Harshini added: “As a society we have collectively stepped up to fight off the virus, and by harnessing the power of social media we have managed to recruit an abundance of people willing to support our front line staff and anyone else who needs it.”

Harshini hopes to return to the Pinner care homes once again in the near future.
