This May, Yorke Mead Primary School in Croxley celebrated 50 years since its doors first opened on Dulwich Way.
Starting as a mixed infant school in 1974 to replace the smaller school situated on York Road, the school has since seen many changes – from the addition of a school nursery, to the colour of the uniform worn by pupils.
To celebrate 50 years of Yorke Mead, former pupils returned to the school to meet current students. The school held a traditional street party, with pupils wearing costumes reminiscent of the past five decades. Meanwhile, budding artists took part in a competition to illustrate what the school might look like in another 50 years’ time.
