A Stanmore church will welcome its new vicar at a service at 7pm on Thursday, July 25.
After three years of training as a curate at Pinner Parish Church, Emma Webber is taking up the role of vicar at St Anselms, where she looks forward to “looking after everyone in the parish, whether they are of the Christian faith or not”.
Asked what the role means to her, Emma said: “Listening is a big part of it. I look forward to seeing what the people of Stanmore are doing already and building on that.
“I’ve been well trained by the wonderful folks of Pinner and I’m excited to put down new roots in Belmont.”
Outside of ecclesiastical life, Emma lists the environment as one of her passions. One of the things that drew her to the role of vicar at St Anselms was its congregation’s commitment to the natural world, which has seen the church earn an Eco Church Silver Award.
“Funnily enough, I’m also quite into Formula One,” added Emma. “I know, it doesn’t quite make sense!”
Emma was drawn to the Church of England while studying different religious traditions at school.
Welcome Emma
I’ve not been to Church for 2 years due largely to COVID.
Yesterday was a delight and I shall be back on Sunday.
