A forest school in Gerrards Cross has successfully obtained bronze, silver and gold Green Tree Schools Awards.
The awards were set up by The Woodland Trust to “encourage outdoor learning and inspire pupils about trees, woods and wildlife”.
Robertswood School planted more than 420 trees, with students continuing to look after them through weeding and watering.
The school has also been able to collect and germinate its own seeds, producing a small tree nursery.
Leilani and Josh, who are both in Year 6, said: “If we didn’t have trees, the human race wouldn’t be here today. We’ve loved learning about the wildlife and the nature around us. As Forest School rangers this year, we have really enjoyed making bird houses and dens.”
Year 3 teacher Mrs Kratky shared: “Working towards the Green Tree Schools Award has inspired our children to learn about their environment and how important trees are to the whole planet.”
The school is already looking to complete the award system in the hopes of gaining its very own platinum award.
