Northwood Golf Club have raised more than £30,000 for their chosen charity of the year, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC).
The money was raised through various events, including golf tournaments and club members running the London Marathon.
Women’s captain Radhi Nanalal and men’s captain Neil Whitehead handed over the funds, totalling £33,605, to MVCC information services manager Ginnie Abubakar at the cheque presentation on Wednesday, November 29.
Radhi said: “The charity is a cause close to many of our hearts. Not only is the centre local to the club, but a few of our members have received fantastic treatment and care there, so we know first-hand how much of a difference the funds will make.
“We are delighted that we have been able to raise a record-breaking amount for this worthwhile cause.”
Beth McNeil, head of fundraising for East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity, said: “The funds raised will help provide free complementary therapy sessions for patients and their families at the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre, based at MVCC.”
