A young runner has smashed the Pinner Village Gardens (PVG) Junior parkrun, ending the final race of the year on a momentous high.
On Sunday, December 31, the parkrun team witnessed a phenomenal running masterclass by siblings Oliver and Harry McDonald, who came to run at PVG as their regular parkrun was cancelled.
PVG’s previous 1km course record of six minutes and 49 seconds was beaten by Oliver, who finished in six minutes and 32 seconds.
A spokesperson from the PVG team said: “To put it into context, the fastest recorded 1km time is 2:21. It was a true honour to witness Oliver running and everyone present agreed on the tremendous effort. Well done Oliver and we hope to see the two brothers at PVG in the future!”
Meanwhile, Harry finished with an impressive time of seven minutes and 42 seconds.
PVG is a free community running event for four to 14 year olds taking place at 9am every Sunday at PVG.
The club will be celebrating their 100th race in February. To find out more, head to parkrun.org.uk/pinnervillagegardens-juniors
