Long-term Girlguiding volunteer and Croxley resident Gill Thomson was delighted to receive a badge honouring her 40 years of service.
Gill first joined Girlguiding as a Brownie at age seven and has worked with the organisation throughout her adult life. She recalls taking her daughter to a local Brownies group in Watford, then switching back to Girlguiding when the family moved to Croxley. During her time living abroad, Gill even volunteered with local groups in New Delhi and Barbados.
She was awarded with her badge at a Croxley Green Trefoil Guild meeting in December.
Gill said: “On moving to Croxley, I began by helping with the 3rd Croxley Brownies before taking on the Ranger unit.
“Guiding certainly gives girls a good basic training in life skills in a fun way, and helping to run units is a wonderful experience. Not only is it fun, but watching the girls gain confidence and helping them to complete challenges is very fulfilling. I’d encourage everyone to volunteer.”
