A man from Hemel Hempstead is set to cycle to Scotland to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Josh Bangerte, 27, will embark on his journey from Hemel on September 5 with the aim of reaching Scotland in 10 days.
He decided to do this challenge without the help and support of a team or a support driver.
Speaking to HemelNews, Josh said: “This is a personal challenge for myself and one that I will complete. It’s to show myself that with a little bit of commitment, we as humans can achieve anything and I hope that this may inspire others to achieve their goals.
“It’s a challenge that will require real mental strength. I want to show people what we can achieve by ourselves. I understand the value of teamwork, but the value of self-sufficiency is also highly important.”
Because Josh is travelling alone, his tough journey is likely to be even more challenging.
Some of the obstacles he could face are fatigue, extreme weather conditions, risk of medical emergencies, supply issues and mechanical issues with the bike.
He also mentioned that the great northern trail contains a lot of hills.
