Oscar Garcia has been unveiled as Watford’s new Head Coach after Beppe Sannino’s shock departure after the Huddersfield victory. Garcia, was manager at Brighton last season and he got the Seagulls into the playoffs last season but they unfortunately lost to Derby County in the semi finals. The Spaniard has proven experience of the Championship and his style of fluid, passing football is what the Pozzos want. His achievement at Brighton came after coaching career highlights which include leading Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv into the UEFA Champions League thanks to a 2012/13 league title-winning campaign. His coaching was under the tutelage of footballing legend Johan Cruyff after playing for the mighty Barcelona in the 1990’s. Garcia’s first coaching job was at Barcelona as he coached the stars of tomorrow at La Masia, FCB’s training facility, for around two years – during which an Óscar-led Under-19s won the treble, before he took up the challenge of senior appointments elsewhere. Other candidates for the job included ex Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion manager, Roberto Di Matteo and Chris Hughton. Do you think Garcia is a good choice? E-mail nicholas@mynewsmag.co.uk
