Amersham School students won the Finalist National Award at the Robotic Club Challenge Qualifier Event on Wednesday, February 26.
The Amersham School Team were placed in the final four at the event at the Cambridge Science Centre after building an “amazing” robot, which passed all the demands of the competition with flying colours, even the high scoring components.
It was an incredible achievement for their first-ever year competing at the event.
A spokesperson for Amersham School said: “Our team was pitted against Sixth Form and college students who were significantly older than our team members. However, the Amersham School team held their own.”
The school also congratulated Will Bowers, who was given a Motivate Award for his superb leadership and motivational skills.
The spokesperson added: “[Will’s] leadership skills and motivational skills were acknowledged and celebrated by the judges. Well done Will!”
At the time of writing, the team is still waiting to hear whether it has made it to the National Finals.
