MARATHON MISSION: Charity CEO from Chorleywood continues fundraising campaign with New York race

Published on: 22nd November 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Chorleywood resident and charity CEO recently ran a marathon to raise money for a charity funding research into Parkinson’s disease.

Will Cook took on the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 6, running 26.2 miles through all five of the city’s boroughs.

Despite a minor injury, Will was confident in his abilities, having trained for the event since July.

He has previously completed several fundraisers for Cure Parkinson’s, the charity of which he is CEO, including a cycle ride from Croxley to Paris, the Royal Parks Marathon, and the Raid Alpine cycle challenge.

Will completed the New York Marathon 20 years after taking on his first marathon.

He said: “Nearly 20 years ago, I staggered around 26 miles in London for a charitable cause that became the extraordinary Cure Parkinson’s. I was with a few close friends.

“On November 6, 2022, I did something similar over 26 miles, but this time on my own. The charity is working urgently to find a cure for Parkinson’s, and I am utterly committed.”
