FRESH START: Northwood FC earn thumping 4-0 victory in bright beginning for season (VIDEO)

At their home ground of the Skyline Stadium, Northwood FC earned a convincing 4-0 win in their first match of the new season.

The club finished fifth in the Ithsmian League South Central Division last year, narrowly missing a chance to go up a league following a loss in the play-offs to Walton & Hersham.

But the club is starting the new season on a strong foot, with a variety of new sponsors supporting the club and an impressive first display of the year.

Playing against Corinthian Casuals, managed by former Crystal Palace player Andy Gray, Northwood had several new players on the pitch.

But it was a face from last season, Osaretin Otote, who shone in the match, with the Woods recovering from a shaky start to resoundingly win 4-0.

Otote  scored a hat-trick, with the final goal scored in the last minutes of the game by number nine Dan Williams.

Northwood & Ruislip News spoke to the Woods’ manager Ben Bukowski about the win, and the current atmosphere at the club.

He said: “It’s obviously nice to get the first game out of the way. There’s always mistakes, nerves and stuff like that. If you win your first game by any score, it’s always a bonus, but to get a clean sheet and put four in the back of the net, it’s really good. It gives you a positive feeling going into the next game.

“You can see by the atmosphere we’ve got in the bar, in the changing room, it’s a club that’s going in the right direction.”

With one win already secured, can this be Northwood’s year? Time will tell. They next play in the league on Monday, August 28, against Binfield.
