A UPS driver has delivered his final parcel after 14 years in Radlett as he was made redundant following the Watford depot’s closure.
Mark Davis, 48, was based at the Watford centre when it closed, and as his role was moved to a new area, he wasn’t able to continue with the company.
Subsequently, Mark was made redundant for not being able to cover the new area, which left him “gutted and emotional”.
He told RadlettNews: “Gutted not to be working there anymore as it was like going to work with your friends. I pretty much knew everyone… and their dogs.
“They moved all the WD postcodes to Dunstable, which is just too far for me to travel every day, so unfortunately they had to make me redundant.”
Residents took to a local Facebook group to support and praise the delivery driver’s impact on the community.
One resident said: “Mark has gone above and beyond and is genuinely the nicest guy. We cannot thank him enough for his amazing service.
“There will never be another Mark and we will miss him terribly.”
Mark added: “To the people of Radlett, I cannot thank you enough. I was lucky enough to get the Radlett run and I honestly don’t think I would have lasted if I were anywhere else.
“It has been a privilege to serve you and I will forever hold Radlett and its people close to my heart. It’s been a very emotional day and I won’t be a stranger. Love you all and thank you.”
