Trains running between London and St Albans were severely delayed this afternoon (Friday, March 8) after Thameslink announced that a man had been fatally hit by a train.
People from West Hampstead Thameslink station were evacuated from the scene, and emergency services attended.
Thameslink posted on social media : “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between West Hampstead Thameslink and Luton. All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.”
A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to West Hampstead railway station at around 12.26 pm today (March 8) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
